The Aussie Long Ballers were formed in 2017 for the IGANZ Trans Tasman Clash with the mission to have Australia and New Zealand in the media light with the high-performance sport of Long Drive. The Trans Tasman Clash took place at the Greg Norman’s Course – Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club, 15th December 2017, where the Aussie Long Ballers took the win, which land-marked sports history for both teams. Both Original Team signatures now reside on the wall of fame at the club.
On the 15th December 2018 the Aussie Long Ballers travelled to New Zealand where the New Zealand Long Blacks took the win on home turf at The Kinloch Club, Taupo, claiming the Darren Wise Stingray for the first time. The 2019 TTC was destined for AU however was interrupted by Australian bushfires so the event was postponed and pushed into 2020 where New Zealand was hosted at Pupuke Golf Club and the New Zealand Long Blacks took a back to back win to remain the current title holders. The global pandemic has hit hard and all plans for 2020 and 2021 were on hold due to international border restrictions. With plans to host a back to back Trans Tasman Clash in Australia in 2022 is being fast tracked.
After 26 events in 5 countries, over 5 Million already invested into the sport, including the largest purse paid-out by IGANZ, the Aussie Long Ballers are fast becoming a commercial brand that is growing from strength to strength with the success of the IGANZ brand. In the pandemic IGANZ founder Olna Ford has been recognised for her investment and dedication to sport and congratulated by Sports Authorities with NSO title. Appearing on the Red Carpet at the Halbergs in 2021, having her first nomination for Team of the year and a Queen’s Honour for her top athlete are just some of the most current and historic memories under the IGANZ banner. The Aussie Long Ballers are set to have major media coverage with upcoming announcements in 2022 including the collaboration with international associates that will place Australia’s best hitters on the global stage for the sport of XDL (Xtreme Drivers League)
